Aye ayes are large, nocturnal primates that inhabit Madagascar. When the creature was first discovered in the 1780's, scientists first decided it was a rodent. The aye aye has an elongated middle finger, which it can probe into trees to find a meal in. The local people of Madagascar claim aye ayes are bad look and so if one is found in a town, they have it destroyed. The aye aye's other threats include deforestation and agriculture, because when the Malagasy came to the island from Indonesia, they brought with them livestock.
